11th MatCalc workshop and user meeting

Next MatCalc workshop: December 14th-15th, 2017

The workshop and user meeting is aimed at bringing together MatCalc users for discussion of problems and exchange of ideas. During the two days, experienced MatCalc trainers are available to provide tips and tricks as well as worked examples. The participants are asked to provide short presentations of their experience / solutions / problems, which will serve as starting points for deeper discussion. This workshop is particularly valuable for users with a certain degree of experience, since the problems discussed will require basic skills in the use of the software as well as understanding of problems in thermodynamics and kinetics. It is likely to be of limited value for MatCalc newbies. The MatCalc workshop and user meeting is held at a time when Vienna exhibits lots of very nice Christmas markets. We are going to visit one of them in the evening …

The next workshop will take place on December 14-15, 2017 and it is open to every MatCalc user interested in improving his skills and sharing his experience. For more information and to register, please contact Piotr.

DGM Aluminum heat treatment committee meeting

On 6th – 7th of September 2017 MatCalc Engineering GmbH organized together with the Institute for Materials Science / Technical University of Vienna the meeting of “DGM Aluminum heat treatment working committee” (AK Aushärtung im DGM-Fachausschuss Aluminium).

The “Coming together event” in the evening on 6th of September at restaurant “Zum weißen Rauchfangkehrer“ offered opportunities for networking. Many ideas about future collaborations and projects were discussed during the dinner. On the next day, several interesting talks and presentations about experimental and computational engineering of heat treatment and mechanical properties of aluminum alloys were held.

With many thanks to all the participants for having an enjoyable and informative time together.

MatCalc Training 2017

Training 2017: “Thermodynamic and kinetic simulations with MatCalc”

Matcalc is a complex software and thermodynamics and kinetics are complex topics. Consequently, there is a million possibilities to make things right (or wrong). Since we know about this problem, we offer training on the MatCalc software and courses on basic thermodynamics and kinetics as related to problems which can be solved with MatCalc. The next training course takes place in summer 2017 (August, 8th – 11th) Send an email to Piotr if you need more information.

The training is held as an official course offered by the Continuing Education Center Vienna University of Technology. In order to register, fill out the registration form available on the website and submit it to office@cec.tuwien.ac.at.

MatCalc Workshop 2016 (December 1st-2nd, 2016)

MatCalc Engineering GmbH at Thermec 2016 conference

MatCalc Engineering GmbH participated as one of the sponsors at THERMEC 2016 conference from 29th of May to 3rd of June in Graz, Austria.

We were pleased to recognize the application of MatCalc mentioned in more than ten conference presentations. Moreover, the capabilities of MatCalc 6 – the new generation of materials simulation software – were introduced and discussed at our booth in the conference venue. To get a better idea of MatCalc 6, some USB drives containing the demonstration version of the software together with the sample databases for steel, aluminum-base and nickel-base alloys were distributed among the interested persons.

Hereby, we would like to thank you for visiting and discussing with us about computational materials engineering problems and perspectives.

MatCalc Workshop 2015

On 10th and 11th of December, a workshop for MatCalc users was organized in Vienna. Four participants from industry met together and presented the topics of their interest, including:

–    Phase equilibria in steels with Cr, Mo and V
–    Precipitation of γ’-phase in Ni-based superalloys
–    Evaluation of second ductility trough in the steel at the cooling line
–    Simulation of DSC curves
–    Simulation of recrystallization process
–    Calculation of flow curves including dynamic strengthening mechanisms

Together with Ernst Kozeschnik and Piotr Warczok, the ways of treating these problems with MatCalc were demonstrated and discussed extensively. The points raised by the users gave us also some more ideas for the future optimization of MatCalc towards the better fulfillment of the industrial needs.

Traditionally, the first workshop day was crowned with a social evening during which we have visited a “Christkindlmarkt” (Christmas Market) at Schönbrunn Palace. Afterwards, we enjoyed some Viennese specialties for supper at “LudwigVan” restaurant.

Official announcement of MatCalc Engineering GmbH activities

On 9th of December, the official corporate presentation of MatCalc Engineering GmbH has taken place in the company facility in Vienna. We were happy to welcome guests from the industry and universities of the German speaking countries.
During the event, Managing Director Dr. Ahmad Falahati, presented the mission, structure and the scope of activity of MatCalc Engineering GmbH. Subsequently, Prof. Ernst Kozeschnik presented an overview on the history of the MatCalc software development, as well as the new features of MatCalc 6 – the upcoming version of this tool supporting the engineers and researchers in the field of metallurgical processing.

After the presentations, our guests gained more knowledge about our company in the informal atmosphere at the buffet and we had the opportunity to listen to their expectations.

During the program breaks and at the end we enjoyed hearing to short classical music pieces chosen and played by our database manager Dr. Erwin Povoden-Karadeniz.

With many thanks to all the participants for having enjoyable and informative time together.
